I MISS YOU GOLDIE

I was never a fan of most female artistes in Nigeria as a matter of fact I only listened to Sasha back then and that was because she did rap which of course was a genre of music that I like. No disrespect to every other female singer back then but to me nothing about their songs moved me unless of course they rapped but that change when I heard Nothing has changed and right there I fell in love with not just the song but with whoever sang the song because I didn't know the name of the female act but I could recognise the master himself OJB.
After hearing that song I did something that was very unusual of me as at then and that was looking for the name of the female act and that was how I met Goldie Harvey. When I saw the video to nothing has changed I saw a very energetic singer someone that was full of life, a diva with a different kind of swagger and to top it all a lady with charisma. Without any doubt Goldie won my heart that I wasn’t just in love with her songs and videos I also had a big crush on her(still do), I think I even dreamt that I did a song with her(wish she was still alive to fulfill my dream). Signed to kennis music Goldie Harvey album Gold was and still remains the only female album that I have bought ever since I have been listening and buying CDs, with songs like point and kill (ft Kas), jawo jawo (ft Jaywon), you know it (ft eldee) that album was packed with hit after hit and I was and I am very much happy that I bought the album.
Am sure saying Goldie won the heart of many Nigerians with her songs and her videos most especially would be an understatement to the impact she had in the industry. To me she was the first female act that produced a very quality and top notch music video both content and creative wise, she was always spending money on her videos and the end result was always fantastic. Take the video of don’t touch my body or is it that of you know it or even jawo jawo for examples, those videos were just too much and with that no one will deny that when it comes to shooting one of the best video Goldie gat it all be it concept, quality, use of costumes (which is my favourite), whatever you want to see in a video Goldie had it all.
It still feels like yesterday when I heard she was dead and till now I still find it difficult to believe that she is truly dead. When I first heard the news I was like ah why people they carry mumu rumour, person way just return from Grammy but I was dump founded when I realized it was true. I wouldn’t have thought someone with such talent and enthusiasm would die so young and so soon I even wished death had not taking her and it had taken someone else but that wasn’t the case. It now two years since her death, the industry and the country has really missed her and as for me missing her wouldn’t do justice to how I feel her. I miss her personality, missed her energy on stage, missed her crazy videos, and I missed her electrified sounds and her melodious songs. I miss an artiste’s that knew what kind of sound we liked and how she was going to deliver it to us, I missed an artiste that was very passionate about her fans, could remember when she was punked that she was crying because they had beaten a guy that was pretending to be her fan all because he wanted to see her. They actually told her she was been punked when they realize she had started crying as she was always pleading for them not to beat the supposed fan. Am sure many artistes would have pitied the guy too but not many artistes would have cried and that is just to show how passionate she was about her fans.
Goldie Harvey would remain my best female artiste for many reasons and part of it is the fact that she was talented and charismatic and she remains the only female act to win my heart with her songs even Sasha didn't win my heart even though I liked her songs. Continue to Rest in Peace as you would be foreverly missed.
