STORY: THE SAYING TOWN

When I was little boy my parent told me that our forefathers where regarded as the SAYERS, because for every sentence they utter there is always a saying in front of it. In the civilization world those saying might be regarded to be proverb but not in all situation.

They relate every message with a SAYING in front of it. After spending few weeks in the town, a tourist who had notice the way of life of the people went to the fore fathers to have a chart with them.

He said “A word is enough for the wise” don’t you think is time you name your town. One of the four forefathers replied “What is worth doing is worth doing well” naming the town has to be done carefully. “He who fail to plan has plan to fail” from what I hear you have created this town from more than a month now and you still don’t have a name for it. Another forefather said “Rome wasn’t built in one day” we already have plans to do that. “Two heads are better than one” hope you don’t mind me giving you an idea. They all replied him by saying “A tree does not make a forest” you idea is welcome. “You are addressed the way you are dressed” since everything you say starts with a SAYING, why don’t you name your town the SAYING TOWN. After a little side talk among themselves, they looked at the tourist and said “we shall be address the way we dress” the saying his our way of life and we have agreed to be seen that way.
The tourist returned to his city few days before the name was reviewed, unfortunately he died in his home town. The sad news got to the SAYING TOWN and on the day of the ceremony he was honoured as one of the founding fathers of THE SAYING TOWN. Two years ago visited my home town. I wanted to know the SAYERS like my parent called them. Civilization sometimes does more harm than good. And when I got to my town I could only agree with the fact that civilization has hurt this people. Everybody now communicates in the civilized way.

After spending a week I became furious on how the whole town had forgotten its root, so I decided to do something. Doing my research I came across the last generation of one of the founding fathers. I ask him what happen to the town and how they got where they are today. The old man made me happy when he replied in the SAYING way. He said “the only constant thing in life is change” civilization has made the people forgot their root. I said “there is no place like home” no matter the amount of civilization we shouldn’t forget our root. “My son charity begins at home” if the people want to remember there root then someone from here should take up that responsibility. I left the old with a promise that as a true son of the SAYING TOWN I will take up the responsibility. Three days after my visit to the old man, he passed away and this made me sad. Death is such a painful event that kills everything. Few days later, I found the answer I have been looking for. The old man told me “change is the only constant thing in life”. What if he his wrong or what if that saying isn’t complete. “Death is also constant”, everybody dies, every hour, every year, death are recorded in SAYING TOWN.

To this I came up with the SAYING that “CHANGE and DEATH are the two constant things in life”. I started attending every funeral in town and if I was opportune to talk I will always start by saying it is my own saying that “change and death is the only constant things in life”. One day the council of elders came to me and said “no man is an island of knowledge” we will like to make your new saying as part of our general saying because we have studied your saying and we find to be true. They also said it has made them realize that they should also go back to their root. This made me very happy, yes I have finally achieved my aim.

Now my town is not only known as the SAYING TOWN once again but also as one of the most civilized town. People in other town now use my town as reference when they also communicate.
