THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE WHO NEVER EXISTED

In every society today there is always someone we tend to look up to for inspiration better still let me say for mentorship.
As a kids and even as adults there are people we call role model, those we want to be like, those that has in one way or the other influenced some of our life’s decision if not all.

From the likes of Barrack Obama to Steve Jobs to Fela Anikulapo Kuti(late) to Nelson Mandela(late) just but to mention a few, these people have had and are still having great influence in the life’s of many people around the world.

One thing that might come as a shock to most of you is the fact that some of those people that had great influence in your life’s actually never existed better still let me say they were just the imagination or stories been told by someone and somehow they became famous and influential. Below are lists of some of the most influential people who never existed

1.     Barbie
To start with Barbie is a name giving to a doll yet this name has been used to represent someone great that most female kids looks up to. Whether you believe Barbie to be a role model for kids or just a toy, the truth is that the hold the doll have on kids is undeniable.

2.     Santa Claus
In Nigeria it is called Father Christmas and trust me back then growing up we all wanted to get a gift from Father Christmas. Santa Claus has had a real impact during the festive period as even parents rely on him to help get the children at their best behaviour during the period. Once they see you are about to misbehave, they threaten you saying "if you do that Santa won't get you a gift", if that doesn't work then nothing would work.

3.     Sherlock Holmes
This name as influenced many cops and detectives on how best to carry out an investigation. Sherlock Holmes defines what it means to be a detective and if modern investigators aren’t equipped with a cape, deer stalker hat and a magnifying glass, let just say they might not get the job done.

4.     Robin Hood
I for one wanted to be like Robin Hood while I was growing up he was one of my favourite superhero. The story and the representation of Robin are extremely important in modern day society that we still hope that there is someone who is giving back to the poor in the same way he did. Although there is huge debate on whether or not Robin Hood existed in reality at the same time there is little proof to support the fact that he did.

5.     King Arthur
The story as been told over time from books to movies the story of King Arthur is probably the most told British story of all time. Till date King Arthur remains a popular figure who fought evil forces and wielded a magical sword and that has rightly made him a legendary heroic figure that most knights across the world look up to. As it were with Robin Hood, there are many arguments as to whether King Arthur existed as a real person or just as the stuff of legends.

6.     Harry Potter
I am sure many of you have gone to bed hoping to wake up the next day to receive a letter inviting you to a certain wizard school so you can end up like Harry Potter. As real the name might sound and as amazing his world seems it would only shock you that Harry Potter is nothing more than a character and has no proof of real existence.

7.     Robinson Crusoe
If there is anyone to be describe as an epitome of heroism and adventure the that person is Robinson Crusoe because even without ever having read the novel, most people already have some idea as to who Robinson Crusoe is. Now that is how influential this widely regarded character that has been said to have all is.

8.     Romeo and Juliet
When you talk about the true definition of love then no other people fits the bill more than Romeo and Juliet. They have been responsible for our vision of the perfect love and the impact that the doomed lovers have on present day relationships has caused us to redefine what we think real love is.

9.     Cinderella
Just to show you how influential this name has been over the years, parents now give name their female child Cinderella. The idea that you can reach your dreams and outgrow your origins has become extremely lucrative and thanks to Cinderella, little girls everywhere believe that they too will become princesses.

10.            Midas
From the entertainment world to the world of sport and down to our normal daily life the phrase “I have the Midas touch” has become a very common phrase that we hear. If you have the “Midas touch” then it is mainly considered that you have a lot of luck and are able to turn anything into a success and this is because of the ancient myth that says whatever King Midas touched turned into gold though the original story was a precautionary tale against greed, the figure of Midas has been turned into something very different.
